Auckland is once again extremely privileged to be hosting the Yale Spizzwinks(?), America's first and oldest underclassman a cappella group dating back to a first performance in early 1914. They have entertained at such venues as Carnegie Hall and the White House, perform over 100 concerts across USA and around the world each year, and this year are including New Zealand as part of their 2017 “Spring tour” – our Autumn.

Fourteen of the current Spizzwinks(?) line-up will be in concert with the Greater Auckland Chorus and friends in the Raye Freedman Arts Centre, at the Newmarket end of Gillies Avenue, at 7:30 pm on Saturday 25 March, doors open at 7:00pm.

Pride of Portland Chorus is one of the top women’s barbershop choruses in the world, consistently ranking in the top ten at International contests, most recently placing 6th at the 2016 contest in Las Vegas this October. They are the first Sweet Adelines chorus ever invited to audition for America’s Got Talent! And they are headed our way for a New Zealand tour, where they will sweep you off your feet with their rhythms, movement and exhilarating performance style.

In Auckland, it will be double the fun, double the singing, double the dancing and double the acting with our very own Greater Auckland Chorus.

What fun we had at the fabulous Gotta Get Outta This Town show over the weekend. From all of us on the risers and on the floor a huge THANK YOU to our incredible playright team Joanna and Suzannah Lyes, our sparkling directors Melody and Jocosa, the teams in front and at the back of the house, all supporters, show team, show cast, and especially to our audiences who were so much fun to perform for!

We had such a fun time performing at Acappella Harmony Academy.

GAC was honored to be asked to take part in the Sweet Adelines International event - AHA which took place in Auckland and saw over 300 people from around the world gather for 3 days of music education, singing and fun! As well as many of our members attending classes, the chorus was lucky enough to be the demonstation chorus in some of the classes and work with musical gurus such as Betty Clipman and Sharon Babb.

On the Saturday night, GAC performed in the showcase concert showing off some of our favourite repertoire including crowd favourite Footloose.
