And that's a wrap! What a great weekend to end our Christmas singouts this year. We had a fabulous time singing with Sounds of the Shore Chorus at Rothesay Bay Carols In The Park last Saturday - always one of our faves! Then on Sunday, we entertained the shoppers at Westfield St Luke's.
This week, we had our annual end-of-year celebrations, where we got together, ate, sang, and gave out awards. Congratulations to all our recipients, and for the whole chorus who received our "Spirit Award 2020" for surviving this tough year and staying strong for each other.
We're taking a break from our regular rehearsals as we wind down 2020 and head into the festive season. You can see us out and about in Auckland at various singouts - check our FaceBook here. We'll return to Epsom campus on Tuesday 19th January 2021. Hope to see you then!
This week we welcomed Shwetha (tenor) who successfully passed her audition. Great job, Shwetha, it's wonderful to have you with us!
A huge congratulations and a very big welcome to our three newest chorus members! Maddy (lead), Lynnie (bass) and Jane (baritone).
With the second lockdown out of the way and being back in level 1 COVID-19 restrictions, we returned to our comfy venue tonight to sing together on the risers again. It was great to brush up on our voices and techniques and to go over a new song we are learning. We were pleased to have several new faces join us today as well, whom we welcomed with open arms.
Dear friends of the Greater Auckland Chorus,
In light of the advised social distancing to slow down the spread of Covid-19, we are taking a break from physical rehearsals until further notice. In lieu of these rehearsals, our beloved director, Jocosa Bruce, and our music team will be working on regular virtual and/or educational activities with the chorus.
This week we returned to our usual venue at the University of Auckland, Epsom campus on 74 Epsom Avenue. Although it was nice to have a temporary venue where we could still get together and sing, there's nothing like the feeling of returning to our home base.
