What a great weekend we had! After finishing the amazing weekend of coaching with Jana “Relentless” Gutenson, we spent our first rehearsal without her consolidating all we have learnt. Now we're locking and ringing like never before, and loving it!

We were all invited to Count Dracula's 500th birthday party, and what an event that was! Sorcerors, vampires, zombies, ghosts, and more of Dracula's acquaintances came and filled his castle to celebrate. The night was packed with spooky treats, creepy music, and an "unexpected" murder, where all the guests pitched in to solve the mystery by unravelling secrets and piecing together clues.

The wonderful Vickie Maybury came to coach us again this week, bringing out the very best in us as always. We enjoyed having her here, teaching us more about her category of expertise - expression!

This week we welcomed back our much loved director, Jocosa, to her first rehearsal after competing with her quartet in New Orleans last month. She was greeted with the chorus dancing to "Celebration" and presented with a beautiful cake baked by one of our members, Julianne, and her family.

What a great weekend we had at the Mardi Gras Mask-erade! Some of us were able to make it down to Wellington to support ROXY, Jocosa's quartet, in their fundraising event. Everyone had a creative mask and/or costume for the party and had a blast with the activities and games that were organised that night. The Mask-erade was hosted by the lovely Revelry quartet, who also catered a fantastic three course meal for everyone. And of course, the most important people of the night, ROXY quartet, put on a little show of some of their current repertoire and their contest set. It was a night to...

Our master director, Jocosa Bruce, recently flew to San Antonio to attend the Directors & Visual Leaders Seminar and learn from other Sweet Adelines on how to be more amazing than she already is. She came back to rehearsal buzzing with news on how much she'd learnt, and will be teaching us many of the great things that was taught at the seminar. We have already incorporated some of them into our rehearsals and are keen to try out other new exciting things over the next few weeks.

Jocosa Bruce, our amazing director competed with her quartet (ROXY) this May and won the title of champion quartet in our region (New Zealand), for 2019! That means they qualify to compete internationally in America this year. She has been very busy with all her flights down to Wellington (where the rest of her quartet are), and a lot of dedicated self-directed practice in order to achieve at her best in the competition. ROXY quartet have been holding many fundraising events to help with this making this trip possible, one of which is the Mardi Gras Mask-erade event coming up at the end of...
